Chris Banda |
 Managing Director

When did you come on board with Gospel Colors Outreach?
I became a full-time missionary with GCO in March 2014.  Before that, I volunteered as an assistant to Alyssa Seed at the beginning of 2013 when the first Gospel Class for kids started at my church. I immediately fell in love with teaching and equipping children with the truth of the Gospel. After going on a family mission trip and watching my son take unbelievable steps of faith; the Lord strongly put it in my heart to join the GCO team. I prayed, fasted and heard very clearly God’s calling for me to join GCO full time.

How did you come to know the Lord?
While my mother devoted herself strongly to teach us the Word of God and take me and my siblings to church, my heart was still rebellious and curious to what the world offered. I grew up in a home broken by divorce, and held onto a lot of unforgiveness and resentment toward my father. As much I looked the part of a young Christian boy in my local church, my heart did not completely understand or even desire to fully grasp a relationship with the Lord. At the age of 12, I went on a Winter Camp retreat with my church. It was on this trip that the Gospel became very real to me. On one evening, after the sermon was preached, the youth were given an option to stay inside the chapel and worship or pray. I don’t know why, but I couldn’t move, and felt compelled to just sit in the presence of the Lord. It was during this moment that the Lord spoke to me, very clearly telling me He wanted to be my perfect Father in heaven; that no matter what I felt about my earthly father, or the situation I was in, He would be my all in all. Not a moment later did one of my youth leaders tap on my shoulder and tell me the very same thing the Lord just told me. Only a few minutes after that, another leader yet again came up and told me the same: “God wants to be the Father of your life.” After that night of surrendering myself to my Abba Father, I was filled with the Holy Spirit. Since then my relationship has been fully restored with my father and even more so, I have been unconditionally loved, graciously disciplined and indescribably blessed by my Heavenly Father.

What is your role at GCO? IMG_4322
I am the Managing Director of Gospel Colors Outreach. As such, the purpose of my ministry is to give direction and vision to the organization. This includes, but is not limited to, establishing and approving organizational goals and changes, recruitment and support of all personnel developmental strategies for partnering and unifying churches to evangelize their communities, sharing the gospel, teaching and equipping adults, children and youth to share the gospel, and leading mission trips and outreaches.

What drew you to GCO?
I was drawn through my own experiences of growing up in church.  I was never really taught how to share my faith as a kid. GCO pushed me to the next level in my walk with the Lord and in my ability to show compassion for this world. I loved how the presentations relied heavily upon the Word of God and the working of the Holy Spirit to change lives. This was what I wanted to be a part of. While I’m not a very outgoing person, God has shown me that He can use even the quietest of people to proclaim the Good News.

What was your first mission trip/gospel experience with GCO?
My first mission trip with GCO was in August of 2005 to Los Algodones. Many of the trips I had taken in the past with my church and other ministries were very service project driven and involved very little, if any, evangelism. GCO was the first trip I’d been on that devoted a majority of it’s time to straight forward evangelism. I clearly remember being stretched in ways I’d never experienced while on the trip. On the last day, I remember wondering to myself if I could actually share the Gospel by myself, without an interpreter, to someone when I got home. Sure enough, at the last house we came to, two men were there and both spoke English and I had a chance to present the Gospel to them without an interpreter.

What are you most passionate about in GCO?
I am most passionate about teaching the Word of God to children and laying a foundation of faith for them to stand on and grow as believers. GCO allows me to do this, and I also get to help children develop ways to share their faith with confidence. It excites me to think that I am working with the next generation of believers to carry forth the Gospel into all the world.

“GCO takes the message of God’s salvation to the streets to share hope for people in need of his love and grace. Experiencing hundreds of men, women and children accepting Christ is the most beautiful work God has given us with the privilege to do. Every Christian should be encouraged to learn the simple presentation and join in the work of this worthy ministry.”  -Bonita

“My daughter, Krysta, and I had the opportunity to evangelize with GCO in a park in Oceanside. We got to share the Gospel with people we didn’t know for the first time. People flocked to our table wanting to hear about who Jesus is. It was a day we will remember into eternity!” -Lara

“My constant prayer for my children is that they will take their place in this world to win their generation for Christ.  The training from the Gospel Colors class and the park outreach equipped my ten-year old daughter to do what many adults have never done — to clearly share her faith and lead someone to Christ!” -Cynthia

“So glad my daughter had the opportunity to build such confidence in sharing the good news. I love the fact that she now LOVES sharing the gospel and will do so to anyone who will listen. What a great skill to have at such a young age. Thank you.” -Jenn

“As a direct result of our partnership with GCO, New Song has been able to lead over 5,000 people to Christ in the last three years. What could be better?” -Hal Seed, Sr. Pastor, New Song Community Church 2014

“I am humbled and honored to pray for GCO, their missionaries, mission trips and most of all for the Holy Spirit’s leading in everything they do, everyone they share Christ with, and the lives that are impacted by them on a daily basis. GCO is a huge blessing to our community. If you have not been on a Mission trip with GCO, I would encourage you too. It was a life changing experience for me, I am forever changed, and will be forever grateful. Thank you Jesus for GCO, continue to richly poor out your blessings upon this wonderful ministry!” -Rufina

“Never did I imagine myself walking the streets sharing the Gospel, and never did I imagine the overwhelming joy I experienced while doing it.” -Matt
